    Description: 
    Two winged, full-length angels of Victory draped in flowing robes flank a smaller figure of the Marquis de Lafayette. The figure on the right holds a branch with leaves in her outstretched proper left hand. The figure's legs are crossed at the ankles and her proper right foot rests above a sphere. The figure on the left holds a branch with leaves in her outstretched proper right arm. Her proper left foot rests above a sphere. The figure of the Marquis de Lafayette stands dressed in military uniform on a central volute. His proper left hand is placed upon his hip while his proper right hand is placed down to his side. The entire relief is flanked by two fluted Corinthian columns and is placed atop an arched window and entrance bay.

    Remarks: 
    The relief is located on the former First Merchant's National Bank. The bank was constructed between 1917 and 1918 and is considered to be one of the best examples of Classical Revival architecture in Lafayette. Incised on facade above archway above the relief: FIRST MERCHANTS NATIONAL BANK.
