    Description: 
    A Civil War monument of a Union soldier standing at the top of a shaft with a circular bronze, relief bust of Abraham Lincoln on front and the relief bronze of an unidentified male on the back. The soldier stands with arms bent at the elbows and crossed over his chest, grasping a rifle barrel, his proper left hand above his proper right hand. The soldier is dressed in uniform, with canteen and bayonet are at his proper left side. The soldier is mounted on a rectangular, tiered base. The shaft is decorated with reliefs. On front is the relief of an eagle, flag and star; on the back is a flag and eagle; on one side there are crossed swords and a cannon; on the other side there are crossed swords and an anchor. Below the reliefs, on two sides, are bust portraits of Abraham Lincoln and an unidentified man. The monument is flanked by circular planters.

    Remarks: 
    The monument was installed by the citizens of Freeborn County in memory of the soldiers and sailors of the Civil War who fought for the Union. The monument is dedicated to Robson Post No. 5, Grand Army of the Republic. The monument was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 1914.
