    Description: 
    A small, red brick grotto with a tile roof and a recessed area lined with twelve blue tiles depicting wildlife, flowers and vegetables. A metal shell-shaped basin is inside the recessed area.

    The memorial commemorates Margaret Wister Meigs, who inherited Fort Hunter as her ancestral home and worked to ensure its preservation. The brick used in the memorial are from Mrs. Meigs' home in Washington, D.C. Henry Varnum Poore made the tiles.
