    Description: 
    Six relief medallions of athletes on entrance facades of a school building. Above the Gymnasium entrance are reliefs of a basketball player and a football player. The basketball player sits with his legs crossed, holding a basketball. The football player sits wearing a period helmet and holding a ball in his proper left hand. Above the entrance for Physical Education are figures representing track and weightlifting. The track figure is in stride with either a cap or a sweatband on his head, wearing a short-sleeved shirt and shorts. The weightlifting figure lifts a dumbbell with his proper right hand. Above the Vocational Training entrance are the two additional figures. One holds an open book in his proper right hand, while the other holds a hammer in his proper right hand and a triangular chisel in his proper left hand.

    Remarks: 
    The school building was dedicated Jan. 2, 1929. Photograph on file in IAS shows only the football and basketball reliefs. IAS files contain newsclippings from Indianapolis Star, March 21, 1993, which includes photograph of the football player. IAS files contain copies of Brazil Daily Times, Jan. 2, 1929 and Jan. 3, 1929, with gymnasium dedication program and details. The new gymnasium was funded for $35,000.
