    Description: 
    An open book and lectern atop a pulpit. The pulpit has wide flat top and a narrow shaft decorated on the front and back with a relief of fluted ionic columns. In front of the monument is an inscribed step.

    Remarks: 
    Monroe Elmon Dodd, 1878-1952, served as the pastor at the First Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana from 1912 to 1950. The pulpit is a replica of the one that he used at the Old First Baptist Church. The sculpture was erected by his family and friends.
