Elephants: hollow bronze; Base: marble.

Elephants: approx. 27 x 72 x 54 in.

Three elephants kneel with upraised trunks that spout water. Two of the trunks hold lotus blossoms. The center elephant is leading, with those on either side trailing by a quarter length at a divergent angle. The elephants rest directly on a low, semicircular wall which acts as a waterfall in a reflecting pool. Each elephant rests on two blocks that is below water level.

Originally from India. Former owner was Mr. Appleton, for whom the Appleton Museum of Art was named. The sculpture was not originally a fountain and when converted, the lotus blossom of the proper left elephant was removed and is now in the Registrar's Office.
