    Description: 
    A uniformed Civil War infantry soldier is seen in an advancing position, proper left foot on the ground, proper right foot raised behind him. He holds his rifle with bayonet and shoulder strap horizontally by his proper right side, his proper right hand on the trigger and his proper left hand on the barrel. The soldier has a goatee and wears a Union cap. There is a sword in a scabbard on the soldier's proper left side, with a canteen behind it on the rear. The soldier is mounted upon a multitiered base with a square column upper tier of polished black granite. The lower tiers of the base are gray granite, with a rough-edged bottom tier.
