Remarks:
The painting won the $1,000 Osborne Prize at a New York exhibition held in 1904. The Osborne prize was awarded in a contest for suitable calendar subjects. In 1906 the painting was exhibited at the Boston Art Club. The model for the painting was the artist's niece, Dorothea Selinger, who posed for the painting holding a pillow.
