Inscription:  (Plaque on front, second tier of base:) CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS/CHARLES VUKOVICH, SCULPTOR/DEDICATED BY RIDGEFIELD CHAPTER OF/U.N.I.C.O./October 12, 1975/1974 - Officers - 1975/(list of names)/Members/(list of names)/and/The Ladies Unit (Plaque on front second tier of base, raised letters:) IN MEMORY OF/ANTHONY CANNIZZIO/FOUNDER/RIDGEFIELD CHAPTER OF UNICO/1903 - 1978 (Plaque on front, bottom tier of base:) These Christman Trees/Are Hereby Dedicated to the/Children of Ridgefield unsigned Description:  The bronze-colored bust of Christopher Columbus, with hair almost to his shoulders, wearing a soft, full cap, and puffed-sleeved shirt. The bust is mounted on a base made of concrete with brick facing and a stone top. There are railings on the two sides of the sculpture and a flag pole with the United States flag off to one side. The sculpture is placed in a planted setting. The sculpture was commissioned by the Ridgefield Chapter of UNICO. The sculpture is used as a centerpiece for the Christmas tree lighting. The sculpture was filling up with water and 'rotting' from the inside out. To alleviate the problem, Bob Celidonio installed a series of copper tubes within the sculpture with drainage to the outside.
