    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was commissioned by Elon College for the College's Centennial in 1989. Conflicting source reports list cost at either $12,500 or $25,500. The sculpture was a gift of former alumnus William H. Duncan and his wife Kathryn M. Duncan. At the time of the sculpture's original installation, Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts was known as the Fine Arts Building. IAS files also contain a copy of the commissioning contract, a copy of the dedication program, two letters concerning the sculpture, and newsclippings from the Pendulum (Elon College, NC) Feb. 16 & 23, 1989, and the Times News (Burlington, NC) Nov. 1989.
