    Description: 
    A statue of Zebulon Pike standing atop a small boulder and holding a telescope in his proper right hand. He faces due west towards Pikes Peak Mountain. He wears a long overcoat with upturned collar, a billed cap, knee-length boots, a pistol tucked into his pants waistband, and a saber, which hangs from a strap on his proper left side. His proper left foot is positioned at the top of the boulder, his proper left leg is bent. His proper right leg is straight and appears to carry his weight. The boulder slopes down to the back. The surface of the sculpture is textured with hatch marks. The concrete base is textured.

Ackerman after a design by Charles Rockey had to be abandoned during the casting because of a dispute between the artist and the foundry.
