    A bronze baseball mounted atop a rectangular base, with a bust-length image of James J. Matson in baseball uniform and cap on an inscribed plaque also on top of base.

    Remarks: 
    James J. Matson, 1972-1994, a promising young baseball player, died at the age of twenty-one on March 8, 1994, the result of a brain tumor. Adjoining baseball diamond is named in his honor. Friends and family were instrumental in developing his monument and naming the nearby field. IAS files contain transcription of plaque on base.
