Possibly painted in Columbia, South Carolina. Mary Ophelia Caldwell Robertson (Nov. 23, 1836-Jul. 17, 1909), daughter of John Caldwell, was married in 1852 to Thomas J. Robertson (1823-1897). Painting has remained in family's collection since its creation.
