    Remarks:
The sculpture is located on grounds of the historic Beaver County Courthouse, now home to the Daughters of Utah Pioneer Museum. The statue commemorates the father of televeion - Philo Taylor Farnsworth (1906-1971). Born near Beaver, Utah, Farnsworth, by the age of 15, had developed the concept of electronic transmission of images and in 1927, in San Francisco, after having invented numerous varieties of vacuum tubes, was able to transmit and receive a recognizable image. In 1934, he issued patents regarding television; and by the time of his death in 1971, had issued over 160 patents regarding electronic inventions, including the first electron microscope, baby incubator, medical gastroscope and pioneered infrared surveillance and air traffic and underwater sonar devices. Another cast of this sculpture is installed at the United States Capitol in Washington, DC (IAS record 71500629).
