    Description: 
    Bust of Jose Marti depicts a man with a receding hairline, a moustache and a small beard. He wears a suit and tie. The bust sits on a base which is enclosed in a low iron fence.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned in 1949 by the Orden Caballero de la Luz, Tampa and Havana chapters. The bust came from Cuba and the base was provided by the Tampa chapter of the Brotherhood. The present base may not be the original. Jose Marti (1853-1895) was a Cuban patriot who spent time in Tampa while in exile. IAS files include related articles from the Tampa Tribune Jan. 19, 1993, and the St. Petersburg Times, June 13, 1993; an excerpt from "Luz y Verdad, Organo Oficial de la Orden Caballero de la Luz," Aug 1949, and additional information.
