Description:
A bust of Christopher Columbus dressed in period costume that includes a hat. The bust rests on a low multilevel self base and is set atop a base that includes a tall shaft and entablature.

Remarks:
The bust and surrounding landscaping cost $7,000 and was paid for by the Columbus 500 Committee. IAS files contain a list of names that appear on plaque. IAS files contain a related article from The Milford Citizen (Milford, CT), Oct. 7, 1992, which discusses controversy regarding selection of Columbus as sitter raised by Native-American community residents. According to the Milford Citizen article, the base was to be supplied by the Milford Monument Company.
