    Description: 
    Four-sided rough-hewn obelisk stands on a pedestal and tiered base. A decorative relief of the Confederate flag is wrapped around the obelisk.

    Remarks: 
    Monument was initiated by the Survivors Association who raised funds. The cost of the monument was $1,000, with additional funds provided by the Civic League. The granite was quarried in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. Sculpture has been moved twice previously within the courthouse grounds. IAS files contain an excerpt from "Narratives of Colleton County," by Beulah Glover, (Spartanburg, SC: The Reprint Company, 1984).
