    Description: 
    A full-length figure of a standing Union soldier of the Civil War atop a tall stone base. He holds his hands before him on the butt of a reversed rifle, the barrel of which rests on the ground. The soldier wears an overcoat and a kepi.

    Remarks: 
    The figure of the Civil War Soldier was modeled after J. A. Bailey. The monument was formerly located in Springfield's Memorial Park, but was moved to the GAR Mound at Ferncliff Cemetery sometime after 1909. Two cannons that flanked the monument were also moved to the cemetery.
