Description:
A uniformed Civil War soldier stands with hands at chest level, holding the barrel of his rifle, the butt resting before his proper right foot. He is clean-shaven and wears a broad rimmed hat, with a bedroll slung over his proper left shoulder crossing to his proper right side. Various accouterments are attached to his belt, the buckle engraved "CSA." The soldier is mounted upon a four-tiered base, with a large relief of a waving Confederate flag on sides of the upper tier, placed upon a foundation.

Remarks:
The monument, commonly known as "The Confederate Soldier," commemorates the Civil War veterans of Claiborne Parish. It cost $1,136, with funding begun with a contribution of $27.49 from the United Daughters of the Confederacy. A metal box in the cornerstone holds the names of 1,564 men who enlisted in fourteen companies organized from the Parish in one day; and names of contributors.
