    Dimensions:
    2 friezes. Each frieze: approx. 6 x 25 x 1 ft.
    Description:
Each frieze depicts half nude, seated, classical, allegorical figures which in one frieze flank the seal of the City of Pittsburgh and in the other flank the seal of Allegheny County. The male figure on left of the seal of Pittsburgh represents industry and labor, with gears, anvil, and hammer. The female figure on right of the seal of Pittsburgh holds tablets which presumably contain written laws built on knowledge and enlightenment, signified by lamp and books at her feet. The male figure on the left of the Allegheny County seal rests against shafts of wheat and the female figure on the right holds a variety of fruits. Garlands of laurel and oak surround the central seal on both friezes.
