(Base, north side:) 1861-1865/IN OUR PERPETUAL REMEMBRANCE (Base, south side:) HISTORY HAS ENSHRINED THEM/IMMORTAL (Base, west side:) CREST TO CREST THEY BORE OUR/BANNER/SIDE BY SIDE THEY FELL ASLEEP/HAND TO HAND WE REAR THIS TOKEN/HEART TO HEART WE KNEEL AND/WEEP.
Description:
Standing Confederate soldier atop a tall base. The figure is dressed in a formal Confederate uniform and wears a brimmed hat. His proper left foot is resting on a raised object so that the leg is slightly bent. He holds a rifle in both hands by the barrel, with the butt of the rifle resting on the ground. The tall base has a relief on the front and crossed swords under the front inscriptions. The monument is surrounded by plantings and a fence.
