Donated as a Christmas present by William Kane, the architect of the City Hall building, of Manson-Jackson and Kane architects, who commissioned an artist from the office to do it. Also part of the gift, the plaque was donated by Clark Construction Company, general contractors for the remodeling of the City Hall building, and commemorates the dedication of the City Hall. IAS files contain a related, undated article from the Lansing State Journal.
