Description:
A larger than life-size, middle-aged Marlin Perkins crouches with a pair of binoculars in his proper right hand. He wears a safari shirt-jacket and walking shoes. Imprints of tree leaves are arranged in random order on the base. The sculpture is mounted on a rectangular base.

Remarks:
The sculpture commemorates Marlin Perkins (1905-1986), native son of Carthage, Missouri, who is best known for his long running television series "Wild Kingdom." The model for the sculpture was created by Bob Tommey. The work was created by Tommey and Bill Snow, who assisted the artist and who was responsible for the metal armature. The sculpture cost $90,000 and was funded through contributions made by the individuals and businesses in the community.
