    Description: 
    Full-length granite figure of a Union soldier standing at rest. He wears a uniform, kepi cap and an overcoat. He holds the muzzle of a rifle in both hands; the butt of the gun rests on the base near his feet. The figure stands on a tall square granite pedestal. Centered on the front face of the pedestal is the outline of a shield.

    Funds for the monument were raised by the Larrabee Post 164 of the Kansas Department of the Grand Army of the Republic over a period of five years. IAS files contain copy of speech delivered by Dean C. Banker at the monument in 1989.
