Remarks:
Sponsored by the Citizens Committee for the Last Alarm, headed by Alvin Shnider. Cost under $3,000. Sculpture honors the 29 Toledo firemen killed in the line of duty. According to the architect, the four corner markers represent the four branches of the fire division: dispatchers, fire-fighters, fire prevention, and rescue squad. Surface has been painted; although originally it was not. Colored lights that were included in the original design are absent. IAS files contain transcription of names and prayer on plaques. IAS files contain related articles from The Blade (Toledo, Ohio), May 25, 1963; and June 8, 1963.
