Remarks:
The Dime Savings Bank was built in 1906-1908, and was expanded in 1931-1932 by architect Robert Helmer at the firm of Halsey, McCormack & Helmer, Inc., who commissioned sculptor Lee Lawrie to create the pediment relief. IAS files contain an excerpt from the Lee Lawrie Papers at the Library of Congress, Manuscript Division, showing a short paragraph written by Lawrie describing the subject of the Dime Savings Bank pediment relief, and noting that the bank used the pediment image as illustrations in advertisements.
