Remarks:
John Huger was Intendant of Charleston from 1792-1794 and Commissioner of Charleston Orphan House from 1792-1796. In 1962, the painting was placed on permanent loan to City Hall by the Commissioners of Orphan House, at the request of Mrs. Eliza Huger Dunkin Kammerer, a descendant.
