    Description: 
    A monument consisting of a tall shaft, the upper section of which is decorated on its respective sides with two quarter-round sunburst motifs and the shield of the United States. Below the cornice is a row of stars around the perimeter of the monument. The main body of the shaft is rock-faced with inscriptions on the front and back. The front face of the shaft displays a raised image of a parchment scroll suspended from a rod. A tasseled cord hung over a round feature and flanked by leaves, supports the scroll, while tassels fall from the ends of the rod along the sides of the scroll. Below that, there is a raised trophy of crossed rifles with bayonets fixed, crossed sabers, kit box and bedroll.
