Remarks:
The sculpture honors the Confederate soldiers of Carroll County, Georgia. The Annie Wheeler Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy sponsored the sculpture project. The McDaniel-Curtis Camp of Confederate Veterans raised much of the money for the sculpture project by selling a souvenir history of Carroll County. The sculpture was first located in Carollton's public square until 1958 when it was relocated to the grounds of Tanner Memorial Hospital. At some point, the sculpture was moved again to the front lawn of the Carroll County Courthouse.
