The sculpture cost approximately $1,530 and was commissioned by his wife, Jennie Marre. It marks the burial site of Angelo Marre (1842-1889). Marre was the president of Edison Electric Light Company at the time of his death. He served as a soldier for the Confederacy during the Civil War, was the proprietor of a saloon and gambling hall in Little Rock, and later served as an alderman and on the board of public affairs. Nearby grave marker contains his name and reads: F.H. Venn & Co.,/Memphis. A second nearby marker reads: Jennie Dunn,/Aug. 16, 1854/Dec. 4, 1904./At rest.
