Formerly in the collection of First National Bank of Atlanta, Broad & Peachtree Streets, Atlanta, Georgia
Remarks:
The First National Bank of Atlanta commissioned this bronze sculpture of a Phoenix, which was the bank's symbol, as well as the symbol of Atlanta. In1981 when the bank merged with Wachovia Bank, the Phoenix symbol was no longer needed and the sculpture was donated to the City of Atlanta. The American Institute of Architects Guide of 1975 lists the sculpture as being a fountain, but the water elements are no longer functioning.
