During the Korean War, Ray Andrews was sent by the Navy to train at the former Santa Rosa Naval Auxiliary Air Station, and in 1990 he commissioned his neighbor Rosa Estebanez to design a commemorative plaque honoring his unit and the history of the former air station. Estebanez designed the plaque and Barbara J. Dutra-Kaelin sculpted the aircraft and wing insignia that adorn the inscription plaque. IAS files contain an undated newspaper article from the Press Democrat detailing the history of the air station and the plaque commissioned by Ray Andrews.
