Description:
Terra cotta figure of a lion resting with its head erect and front paws extended out in front. The sculpture rests on a concrete rectangular base. The sides of the base are covered in yellow brick. Each brick has been carved with different bas-relief figures of lions and lion heads.

Nearby plaque: "This statue is dedicated in honor of Betty Wood, Sid Morris, Randy Hendricks, Joyce Ogburn, Abner K. Junkin - Parent Teacher Council. This garden commemorates the alumnus, faculty, staff and friends of the Arkansas School for the Blind. Funded in part by a grant from the Arkansas Arts Council. The A.S.B. Lion was designed and sculpted (by) Cathy Ayres-Zimmerman in Spring of 1988."
Funds for the sculpture were donated in part by the Arkansas School for the Blind Class of '87 and through the Arkansas Arts Council Arts-in-Education Program. Ayers-Zimmerman was assisted by students at the school who sculpted the bas-relief bricks which cover the base. IAS files contain copy of related article from The Pine Bluff Commercial, June 25, 1988.
