Dimensions:  Lion: approx. 48 x 21 x 58 in.; Base: approx. W. 78 in. x D. 108 in. (3,000 lbs.). Inscription:  (On bronze plaque on south side of base:) CONTRIBUTED BY/BYRL A. BYLES. P. D. G./OCTOBER 1963 Description:  A lion, carved out of white marble and standing with proper left front paw placed on a sphere. The sculpture rests on a concrete base. Subject:  Animal -- Lion Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Arkansas -- Little Rock Sculpture Owner:  Arkansas Enterprises for the Blind, 2811 Fairpark Boulevard, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204 Provenance:  Formerly in the collection of Auten, Winnie B., Old Conway Highway, Little Rock, Arkansas until ca. 1960. Auten, H. F., Mr., Remarks:  The sculpture was originally purchased in 1920 in Italy, by Mr. H. F. Auten, a local real estate and insurance executive. It was located on his daughter-in-laws (Mrs. Winnie B. Auten's) property until ca. 1960, when she gave it to Arkansas Enterprises for the Blind, as part of their building expansion plan.
