Remarks:
The alligator is the school's mascot and the sculpture was created as part of The Austin Project. It was done with the assistance of 94 fifth graders, who placed the marble chips and worked details of the feet and head. The sculpture was designed to support the weight of children and they do sit or stand on the sculpture. The students also often rub the alligator's nose for good luck at exam time. IAS files contain copy of dedication brochure.
