One of three Sunsweep sculptures aligned to trace the path the sun takes from dawn on the east coast of Canada to dusk on the west coast of Washington. All three sculptures were carved from a single slab of polished Canadian black granite, and all three are laser etched with an image of a woman's hand traced by concentric rings that fan out resembling a topographical chart, each ring becoming more circular to form a perfect circle with the last ring. American Point Island's Sunsweep sculpture features two almost triangular slabs of granite, each with a rough granite edge on the longest side. The sculptures are installed opposite one another, with the rough cut edges facing each other.

The three Sunsweep sculptures, spanning 1,722 kilometers across Canada and the U.S., were donated by the artist as a symbol of international friendship between Canada and the U.S. According to the artist, each sculpture is like "one third of a rainbow" forming an arc that sweeps across the two countries. The sculptures are made of Canadian black granite from the St. Sebastian Quarry in Quebec. IAS files contain a brochure on the Sunsweep sculpture project.
