She is dressed in classical robes and holds a wreath in her extended proper right hand and a plume in her lowered proper left hand. The soldier has a rifle slung across his back. He wears a helmet, a shirt with the first several buttons undone and sleeves rolled above the elbows, a belt with pouches, and puttees. Behind the figure is a broken wheel. The sculpture is mounted on a rectangular tiered base.

    Remarks:
The sculpture was originally dedicated to the city's men and women who served in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and the World Wars, but was rededicated in 1957 to include the veterans of the Korean War, and in 1977 include veterans of the Vietnam war. The sculpture was cleaned around 1992, and possibly some restoration was done. IAS files contain a copy of the Nov. 11, 2008 article from The Progress, "Origins lost over time...'Doughboy' monuments honor WWI veterans" which mistakenly notes that the Clearfield doughboy monument is not listed in the Inventories of American Painting and Sculpture database. This doughboy monument was documented and added to the Inventories database through the Save Outdoor Sculpture! survey in 1995.
