    Description: 
    A sculpture which depicts three soldiers carrying a wounded comrade from the battlefield. The wounded man is carried by the lapel of his flack jacket or vest and by both legs. The wounded man has a large bandage over his head and proper left eye. All of the soldiers wear combat fatigues and flack jackets, and all except the wounded man wear helmets. The leader has a rifle in his proper left hand, the middle soldier carries a pistol in his proper right hand, and the man in back carries a rifle in his proper right hand. The sculpture faces east. The soldiers are running up a slight incline. The base is a rectangle made up of smaller squares of marble.

    On associated plaques, located on the inner side of the railing or barrier along the edge of the Superdome Plaza, on the Poydras Street side, are inscriptions describing events associated with each year of the war in Viet Nam beginning with 1954 and going through 1975.
