Located Greenmount Cemetery, Veterans' burial lot, Dansville, New York
Remarks:
Erected by the Seth Hedges Post, Grand Army of the Republic, predecessor to the American Legion Daniel Goho Post No. 87, for $250. Post members contributed $200, and $50 was donated by Job E. Hedges, nephew of Seth Hedges, whose father, Job C. Hedges, was killed in the Civil War. The sculpture has been subject to vandalism and has been shot at. In 1990/1991, it was repaired by Robert Shepard and Paul Inshco, at the Foster Wheeler lab. A new scabbard was made to replace the missing one; the rifle was reshaped; and bullet holes filled in with lead.
