Description:
Sculpture symbolizes "service" handing light to the youth of the world. Service is represented by a large male figure reaching down to a boy and girl. The sculpture is installed against the wall of the building.

Remarks:
Pierre Bourdelle served as an ambulance driver with the American Field Service from 1942-1944. This piece is an expression of Bourdelle's faith in unity through international understanding. He created this piece in his Oyster Bay studio and according to the American Field Service Archives and Museum, the mold was destroyed and no copies have been made. IAS files contain a copy of a letter from the American Field Service Archives and Museum which describes the sculpture.
