    The medal marks the first anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing on July 20, 1969. It was presented to the three Apollo 11 astronauts, Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin A. Aldrin, Jr., in the House chamber of the State Capitol in Austin, Texas on Oct. 17, 1970. IAS files contain invoice from Medallic Art Company dated July 6, 1970; and related correspondence with the artist, dated July 9, 1970. IAS files also contain article from the New York Times, Nov. 1, 1970.
