    Remarks:
Funded with a National Endowment for the Arts, Art in Public Places grant of $10,000 given in 1976 to the Akron Public Library. Additional funding was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Louis S. Myers ($10,000). According to the artist, this sculpture was originally painted black. It has been painted by the library several times. Students from the University of Akron painted it in the early 1980s and Burac Bros. of Akron painted it in 1990 using a gloss exterior enamel. IAS files contain a related article from the Akron Beacon Journal, Sept. 11, 1976, which notes that at the time of the dedication the sculpture was already painted yellow.
