Remarks:
The eagle, a veteran's memorial, was commissioned to honor veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War. The eagle's elevated wing represents soldiers who returned from service and conflicts, while the lowered wing represents those who did not. IAS files contain a brochure from the sculpture's dedication, and a copy of a related excerpt from "Monumental Minnesota," by Moira F. Harris, Pogo Press, 1992, pg. 78.
