    Description: 
    A tall granite shaft is surmounted by a marble figure of Elizabeth Crockett as a young woman. She stands, shading her eyes with her proper left hand. She wears a long, short-sleeved dress with a scarf around her neck. The shaft is decorated with a palm leaf in bas-relief on the front, and the State of Texas seal on the left and right sides. The shaft has a rough-hewn bottom tier and is set upon a limestone base. The entire memorial is fenced.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture marks the grave of Elizabeth Crockett, second wife of Davy Crockett. It was installed by the State of Texas and the people of Hood County. State Senator Pierce Ward (an orphan), vowed to honor pioneer mothers, and oversaw the design, fundraising and erection of the memorial. The state and county each appropriated $2,000 for the project.
    Granite gravemarker in front of sculpture reads: Mrs. Elizabeth Crockett, wife of David Crockett/Born in Buncomb Co., N.C. May 22 1788/Married to David Crockett in Lawrence Co., Tenn 1815./Died in Johnson Co. now Hood Co. Jan 31, 1860,/Age 72 years.
