Remarks:
The sculpture, purchased for around $700 to $800, was originally installed at City Hall Park, and was moved in the early 1950s to San Jacinto Plaza's alligator moot. In the 1980s, the sculpture was restored and layers of paint removed. It was then repainted and placed indoors in City Hall, mounted in a pool. The current concrete boot is a replacement for the original pewter boot which was stolen by vandals. A brass cannon from the Civil War originally stood guard by the boy.
