    (On plaque on one side of central section of monument:) Dedicated 1907 By Jefferson County to the Memory of Her Soldier Dead (On plaque on other side of central section of monument:) The muffled sad roll has beat the soldiers last tattoo. No more on life's parade shall meet. That brave and silent few. On fame's eternal camping ground their silent tents are spread. And glory guards with solemn round the bivouac of the dead.
    Description: 
    A monument consisting of a multitiered pedestal topped by a four-cornered monument with a uniformed Civil War figure placed at each corner. The Monument has an attenuated upper section and is surmounted by a Civil War soldier, dressed in military uniform consisting of a thigh-length jacket, a cape, and cap, who stands holding an unfurled flag, the bottom of the flagpole rests at his feet.
