    Remarks:
The library was designed by Engberg Anderson Inc. of Milwaukee. Wisconsin artist Peter Flanary created a large mosaic of inlaid linoleum for the interior lobby and the garden sculpture outdoors, and outside combined native trees with inscribed boulders at each end of the building. The exterior piece includes one boulder from the Mesabi Range -- its high iron content related to the historic steel mill that once dominated Bay View. The sculptor refers to the total as: Bay View Series. The sculptures cost approximately $20,000 and were funded through the percent for art building program. IAS files contain transcription of inscribed text on boulders and related readings from the Milwaukee Sentinel, dated Oct. 25, 1993, and the "Reader," Oct. 1993, Vol. 51, no. 9.
