    Owner:
Hatfield Cemetery, Highway 44, Sarah Ann, West Virginia 25644
    Remarks:
The sculpture, modelled from photographs taken after Hatfield's death, was imported from Italy at a cost of $3,000. Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield (1839-1921) was a leader of a Hatfield faction in the Hatfield-McCoy feud. IAS files contain related articles from Comstock, Jim, ed., "The West Virginia Heritage Encyclopedia, Vol. 10 and 11," Richwood, WV: Jim Comstock, 1974, pg. 468; and two unidentified articles. The statue was reportedly purchased by McCoy descendants and its dedication marked a formal "treaty" between the Hatfields and McCoys.
