Description:
Prow of dory-type boat emerging from the sand and riding the crest of concrete waves. There is one porthole on each side of the boat towards the front. Shells surround the hull of the boat.

Remarks:
The artist received a commission in 1986 to work collaboratively on the design of the new Ballard Community Center, one of three new or renovated community centers around the city for which artworks were commissioned. IAS files contain related excerpt from "A Field Guide to Seattle's Public Art," Seattle Public Arts Commission, c. 1991, pg. 144-145. IAS files also contain transcription of text on sidewalk in front of the sculpture. Sculpture was funded by Seattle Dept. of Parks & Recreation, One Percent for Art Funds, administered by Seattle Arts Commission.
