    Description: 
    A Confederate soldier stands at parade rest, wearing a field uniform and slouch hat, holding the end of rifle barrel with both hands, the butt of which rests in front of his proper right foot. His proper right foot is forward and sticks out over the edge of the base. His canteen and bayonet hang from his belt on his proper left side, and a blanket is slung over his proper left shoulder and tied at his waist at his proper right side. Haversack rests at mid-back. A tree stump is behind his proper left leg. The sculpture is mounted upon a tall column, set on a rough-edged, multitiered lower base.
